Salt Spring Island in British Columbia, Canada, is the jewel of Canada’s Southern Gulf Islands. It is nestled up against the east side of Vancouver Island, about half way between Nanaimo and Victoria, the capital city of BC. The city of Vancouver on the mainland of BC is to the north.
Air Travel: Nearby international airports are Victoria and Vancouver.
From Victoria Airport (YYJ): take a taxi to Swartz Bay (approximately 15 minutes, $25). From there you can get a ferry that takes 35 minutes to Fulford Harbour on Salt Spring Island. From Vancouver (YVR): You can travel to Salt Spring Island via seaplane (25 minutes) from the south terminal of Vancouver airport (take a free bus or cab from the international airport to the south terminal). http://saltspringair.com/ or http://www.seairseaplanes.com/
To travel via ferry from Vancouver: Take skytrain and bus to Tsawassen ferry terminal. There are daily ferries to Long Harbor on Salt Spring Island. You can also buy a throughfare ticket and transfer in Swartz bay on Vancouver island, where you will get the Fulford Harbour ferry to Salt Spring Island (see above). http://www.bcferries.com/
From Seattle: There are two additional routes that are occasionally used by students traveling from Seattle.
